about

This is a song about my grandmother. She told me of stories about being young and early love, but I also knew she had a difficult life...and the narrative she wove for herself was so defeating to herself and her loved ones..yet her spirit shone through...tenacious and full of fortitude...despite her incredible sensitivity and the experiences she had to suffer through..

lyrics

Once I was young I could feel the taste of my son on my lips
I was a rose, I struck a pose for you
I rode on your back, with you

And every move that you make is added to the mountain that you climb
And every move that you make is added to the mountain that you climb

Enough of this! It’s alright for me to begin to believe that it’s all to conceive of
Enough of this, it’s a normal to begin to believe that you can be normal again
Work it out of this there baby, you know it completes a piece of the tapestry that she laid down- the plans that all went to her head

I would dance after dark, with my tongue in the park, my hair in a lark for you
Now I’m so tall I can see it all, you look so small to me, and after all...

Rampaging teardrops trickle off my hand and into the land
There are holes in the sky where the rains gets in, the holes are small that’s why rain is thin

But she said this is a dialogue?!
But what does it look like? Does it know it’s own head?

Grab me baby, hold on to your words
They are your own, though they may seem to dwindle and fade away…

Now I’m so tall, you look so small to me
But you are mine, given the time that’s gone by
And after all

Rampaging teardrops trickle off my hand and into the land
There are holes in the sky where the rains gets in, the holes are small that’s why rain is thin
